The Blue Light Symphony Orchestra is more than just an orchestra, We are a community of musicians who share the unique experience of serving in the emergency services,
Are you a current or former member of an emergency service, the wider NHS or the military and want to play music with people who understand you? Click below to learn about opportunities to play with the BLSO in workshops, concerts, events and even a residential music festival. We also welcome any musicians who want to play with us and support our emergency services.
EMOTIONAL RESILIENCE
Blue light workers are more likely to suffer from mental illness than the general population but less likely to seek help. Group music making can help to maintain emotional resilience and support mental health.
We believe passionately in the power of music to speak the unspeakable, allowing us to connect with our emotional selves and each other. That is why we are developing music based interventions to help build emotional resilience and aid recovery. Music based interventions offer an alternative intervetion for thise who feel unable to talk directly about thier traumatic experiences and do not require any previous musical training,
